What Are Thread Veins?

Thread veins, or dermal flares, are very fine, dilated veins, situated just beneath the surface of the skin. They can occur on their own but also may arise alongside larger varicose veins. Thread veins are most often harmless but unsightly but can be a sign of an underlying problem.

What Treatments Are Available For Thread Veins?

Many different treatments are available including:

  • sclerosing injections
  • electrolysis
  • laser treatment and skin creams

It is widely agreed that the most effective is treatment by sclerosing injection, also known as sclerotherapy.  Thread veins can be treated on many different areas of the body and often resolve with just a few sessions of sclerotherapy.
